Indonesian Furniture and Handicraft Association (Asmindo) expect exports in one of this year reached 2.4 billion dollars or about 22 trillion. Furniture exports last year reached 1.9 billion dollars, said Basril Djabar, deputy director Asmindo.
This year, the first half year reached 1.2 billion dollars in exports.
To maintain this achievement, promote Asmindo furniture for new markets like the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
According to data from NAFED (National Agency for Export Development) America is the largest export destination (total 30% of production). Japan became the second largest importer (11%).
Netherlands and France became the third and fourth major buyers, with nine and six percent.
Basril said, frequent international exhibition of furniture and handicrafts to help Indonesia develop sales.
"Many domestic and foreign players who use a variety of events to promote products and determine the order." He said. An example is the International Furniture Fair recently that attract foreign buyers.
